Obligations if reference value is exceeded Employers must implement (structural) measures to reduce radon exposure

If the reference value of 300 Bq/m³ is exceeded in at least one workplace, structural measures should be taken to reduce radon exposure in the workplaces concerned (e.g. by installing structural partitions or ventilation measures).

Advice from trained experts for structural radon protection helps with the right choice of remediation measures. In most cases, it will be possible to achieve a permanent reduction in radon concentration with relatively little effort if a professional approach is taken. Further information on remediation measures can be found here.

If a new measurement (control measurement) shows compliance with the reference value, no further measures are necessary. The procedure for the control measurement is the same as for the initial measurement and must be carried out by an authorized monitoring body.

If economically justifiable measures do not succeed in reducing the radon concentration in the workplace to below the reference value, you must comply with further obligations.
