24.05.2024: Long Night of Research - BMK, Vienna (A) Many interested visitors at the radon information stand in Vienna

The Long Night of Research attracted many interested visitors to the site of the Radiation Protection Division at the BMK in Vienna. The Radon Department took part in the Long Night of Research with the main topic: What exactly is radon? A varied program of events inspired the participants. On this evening, a new visitor record was also set at the Radiation Protection Unit. Over 230 visitors came to the radiation protection site at the BMK that evening!

What exactly is radon?

What exactly is radon, how does radon get into the living area and how can I protect myself against it? These and many other questions about radon, radon prevention and remediation were discussed in detail at the radon information stand that evening. Valeria Gruber: "I am particularly pleased that so many young people are interested in the topic of radon, science and research.The interactive radon map and the opportunity to book a free radon measurement at www.radon.gv.at were particularly popular with the participants. The following people from the Radon and Radioecology Department were present that evening: Valeria Gruber, Andrea Götzendorfer and Thomas Bayer. The motto of the evening: Join in. Marvel. Discover was consistently implemented at our site.

Long Night of Research:

The Long Night of Research (LNF) took place at over 270 exhibition locations throughout Austria at the end of May. The LNF is Austria's largest public event on the topic of science, research and innovation. The LNF takes place every two years. The next Long Night of Research is planned for 2026.
