Free radon measurement in private households

As part of its radon protection activities, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management (BMLUK) offers a free radon measurement with two radon detectors in your private Austrian household. The radon concentration is measured using simple measuring devices. The measurement generally lasts six months, starting either in December or July, to record the daily and seasonal fluctuations of the radon concentration in the building.

The radon detectors can be ordered twice a year in good time before the start of the measurement, either in calendar week 28 or in calendar week 48 . The free radon measurement can only be carried out in Austrian private households .

Result of the radon measurement

Once the detectors have been evaluated, you will receive the results as a test report. The report will be sent by e-mail to the e-mail address registered in the online measurement protocol.

If you have any questions or uncertainties regarding the measurement, please contact the Austrian Radon Competence Center at the email address radonfachstelle@ages.at or refer to the general FAQs on the measurement. A measurement time calculator for calculating the exact end of the measurement can be accessed here.

In addition to raising awareness of radon, the aim of the measurements is to improve the level of knowledge about radon in Austria and to collect further data without personal reference for the radon map. You can revoke your consent to the processing of personal data at any time by sending an informal request to datenschutz@ages.at.
