What can I do? Inform - Measure - Act

Radon is the second most common cause of lung cancer. Radon protection is therefore health protection. Find out about radon, arrange a radon measurement for your home and take countermeasures in the event of radon exposure.

Radon is only a problem if nothing is done about it!

Inform

Find out about the dangers and risks of radon. Information on protection against radon can be found on this website. You can use the interactive radon map to check the mandatory and recommended radon protection measures in your municipality.

If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact the Radon Office.

Send an e-mail to radonfachstelle@ages.at.

You can reach us by telephone on Wednesdays from 11:00 to 14:00 on our radon information line 050 555 41800.

Fairs

Only a radon measurement provides certainty about the actual radon exposure in your home.

As part of its radon protection activities, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management (BMLUK) provides a free radon measurement with two radon detectors in your private household. The BMK provides a contingent of radon detectors for these measurements twice a year. The measurement lasts six months, starting either in December or July. Further information is available here.

Note

We recommend a radon measurement for every home, regardless of the area, construction method or age of the building!

Act

If an increased concentration of radon has been detected in your living space, it can often be remedied with relatively simple measures. Further information on countermeasures can be found here.

Advice on radon remediation can be obtained from trained specialists for structural radon protection, the responsible representatives of the provincial government and our experts.

Important: Take precautions!

If you are planning a new build or renovation work on existing buildings, simple radon protection measures should also be installed. Preventive radon protection is cheaper, more effective and simpler than subsequent radon remediation measures. Further information on radon protection in new buildings can be found here.
